The unique geography which embraces the ancient cities of Didyma, Miletos, Priene, Magnesia, Myus, Herakleia and cultural richness such as Doganbey, Gelebec, Akköy, Yoran and such natural beauties as Bafa Lake National Park and Dilek Peninsula, all gathered around  a common past and historical relations of 3.000 years in the Great Meander River Basin:

“Delta of Civilisations, Meandros.”

With activities like the Didyma Sculpture Symposium, Musica Meandrum Concerts, Meandros Photography Camp and Delta of Civilisations Step for Step Culture Trips that will all be held within the scope of  Festival Meandros for a whole month, every corner of this unique geography will fill with the enthusiasm of the meeting of nature, history and art.

“Building a Bridge Between the Present and a Past of 3.000 Years of Art...”

Organised by the Didim Council for the first time this year, the Didyma International Stone Sculpture Symposium aims to build a bridge between the historical texture of the Delta of Civilisations, the cradle of art and science, and today’s art; to open a field of information exchange for artists from different countries with different experience backgrounds; to get the local people together with the artists and to bring in quality modern artwork to Didim.

With this objective, the Selection Committee will give the priority to the projects based on the historical and cultural past of the region while evaluating the applications.

“On its way to becoming an Arts Village,

Yoran Will Host the Art of Sculpture.”

The world-wide famous oracle of antiquity,

whose construction had re-started on the orders of Alexander the Great 2.500 years ago,

hosting the masterworks of ancient sculpture and the Medusa relief,

decorated with frescos of perfect workmanship: Temple of Apollo...

The old village which has resisted time since the 19th century, surviving with its black oven bakers, authenic café and stone buildings:

On its way to becoming an arts village,

Yoran will not only host the artists at the symposium for a month,

but also will host afterwards the sculptures at the open exhibiton areas in the alleys.
