The photograph exhibition featuring the old Aegean village Yoran, located where the Didyma ancient city is, will take you to a journey into the history of Didim. The opening of the exhibition will host the people of Yoran, who were depicted in the book “From Yoran to Didim”, and the author of the book Özer Aydoğan will be signing his book.

We are going from Gölyaka Village up on Beşparmak (Latmos) Mountains with local guides to visit the Monastery of the Seven Brothers. After watching the fabulous sunset of Lake Bafa from Herakleia, on our way back troubadour of Mount Beşparmak, ‘Sazcı’ Mehmet will give us a small concert at the village square.

The project of the building allocated by the Güllübahçe Council was prepared by voluntary architects, renovated with the support of businessmen of Didim and decorated by the Söke Council. The Meandros House, developed through regional cooperation, will be the meeting point for the volunteers who run the project of regional trademark MEANDROS themed on culture and nature and who created the Festival Meandros.

American artist Peter Hristoff, together with the 80 years-old traditional carpet weavers of Güllübahçe, is working at the centennial weaving loom. Peter Hristoff designs woven at the Güllübahçe Carpet and Rug Atelier will be exhibited during Festival Meandros and will be on sale to help survive the atelier.

The old Aegean village Akköy with its historical stone buildings. We will travel the stone paved roads named after distinguished artists of our country, in this pretty village renowned for its library. We will visit the village market opened by the locals. Here a pleasant surprise will welcome us: A concert by the Turkish Folk Music Chorus, composed of 40 members of the Didim Culture and Arts Association (DİKSAD).

Amphitheatre of Miletus
After so many years, the magnificent Amphitheatre of Miletus awakens to the sounds of youth and music. 100 members strong, the orchestra, formed of young musicians chosen annually from the Turkish Conservatoires, is conducted by Cem Mansur. The orchestra, which will represent Turkey at the Young-Euro-Classic Festival of Germany in August, will perform the following programme.
